Artificial intelligence is providing a range of benefits across the world, increasing efficiency, productivity, and accuracy. Despite these technologies becoming increasingly embedded in the lives of New Zealanders, few limitations and little regulatory oversight currently exist. The full extent of the harms associated with artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies remains unknown, as researchers and lawmakers struggle to keep pace with rapid technological advancement.

I am passionate about the intersection of technology and the law, with a focus on the regulation of artificial intelligence in New Zealand. Digital harms that threaten the rights and interests of New Zealanders must be taken seriously and met with timely and effective legal responses. My research examines how an appropriate balance can be struck between allowing us to reap the benefits of this new technology while safeguarding fundamental ethical standards, human rights, and privacy protections.
