Master of Arts - Pacific Studies
Our Pacific peoples (and places) are highly skilled, intellectual and valuable. However, this is a reality that is often dismissed in favour of warped colonial stereotypes and assumptions that cater to Western worldviews and serve colonial agendas. Despite the prevalence (and constant reproduction) of such colonial ideals and the consequent internalisation of them, Pacific peoples (and places) continue to resist and respond in ways that display the strong, resilient and collective character of our people.
It is my goal to be able to provide platforms for our Pacific peoples to realise these limitless capabilities – as demonstrated through (Pacific) history: by their very own ancestors. I hope to inform our people through Pacific modes of knowledge that shine light on the validity, value, and depth of Pacific peoples, places, cultures, and worldviews – in order to uplift, strengthen and affirm the identities and knowledges of our peoples.
