The current social, economic and political position of Māori is the product of a turbulent geopolitical campaign in the broader, colonial project. Through this sustained, violent campaign, Māori have been condemned to roam the fringes of the social body. In this climate, a reconfiguration of the existing systems of power is a necessity. The sustainability and health of our communities, our climate and our futures are contingent on mobilising our collective strengths to do so.

Within my role as a researcher, writer, Tuākana mentor and tutor, I aim to utilise every resource at my disposal to contribute towards realising such transformative outcomes for Māori. Ka whaiwhai tonu mātou, Ake! Ake! Ake!
